I’m excited to be bringing you another awesome costume tutorial featuring the comfiest clothes from Primary.com! This one is for “kid Simba”.
Your list of must haves is really simple:
- The long sleeve pj top in sunshine
- The PJ pant in sunshine
- Felt in brown, black and gold/yellow
- Chenille stems/pipe cleaners
- Fabric glue
Easy enough, right?!
Head to Primary.com to scoop up your basics and you can get the rest from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Amazon, or pretty much any craft store. I feel like Walmart is a gamble but you may get lucky there!
For the ears, I used the same ones I crafted for baby Simba! For this costume they worked a lot better since Leopold’s head is a little bigger. If you want to make them look nicer, you can also add a strip of felt on the top to cover up the hot glue connections. These were the first ears I made so they are the least nice looking.
A word of caution, it’s very likely that your baby or toddler will refuse to wear the ears after a short amount of time.
I cut a circle of yellow felt for his belly and cut out some paw prints to add to his cuffs for a little extra detail! Simba was SO simple but I feel like the point was made, do you?
All you really need to do after you get the fabric on (don’t forget to make the tail!) is paint on some whiskers or add details to your child’s face, but only if you want another added effect!
I didn’t put shoes on my son but some yellow slippers would be cute!
Check out the fun (poorly edited) photo I posted using this costume on my Instagram!
