Can someone say GAME CHANGER?!?
My dad and his wife gave us this popcorn popper for Christmas this year, and we have used it almost every night this week!
I LOVE popcorn, but I know it’s not great for you (not how I like it at least). Being able to pop my own and control everything that goes in/on it is so fantastic.
This silicone popcorn popper is collapsible for easy storage, unlike regular popcorn makers which take up a ton of room. It’s dishwasher and microwave safe because it’s made of BPA free, food grade silicone.
There are two measurement lines in the bottom of the bowl. You can add a little oil in the bottom, but this is optional. The instructions say you’re more likely to have luck WITHOUT the oil but I’ve used it successfully every time. I use about 2 tsp of regular cooking oil (per the directions). Then you can add popcorn kernels to the bottom line for half a bowl, or the top line for a full bowl.
My husband and I both love popcorn so we use the top line! If you added oil, stir it up to coat all the kernels. This prevents the bottom of the silicone bowl from scorching. Place the lid on the bowl without pushing it down too hard (it will land about halfway down the bowl).
The instructions say that you can just use the ‘popcorn’ setting on your microwave. This may be true for some, but I find my microwave to be a little weak. I’ve been setting it for 4-5 minutes and haven’t burnt a batch yet. You may want to experiment with the times.
Once it’s done popping it will have pushed the lid up to the top. Mine is usually bursting with popcorn!
I melt about a half a stick of butter and drizzle it over the top. We also use white cheddar powder for added flavor. I use the lid to cover and shake it up so everything is evenly distributed. ( I got my kernels and white cheddar from Aldi)
If I had to guess, I would say this thing will easily make the equivalent of two bags of popcorn in one go. There are usually kernels left over and if you’re still hungry, you can pop it back in the microwave for an extra handful or two!
This stuff is SO yummy and much healthier than the alternative! It was a genius gift idea that I might use in the future for friends and family. It’s pretty cheap on amazon (I’ve kindly left you an >affiliate< link below if you want to get your own).
