April 19th A light has come on in my brain. I know why I am not stressed out about everyone speaking German around me! All of the Sims I have played has payed off! I always knew those hours weren’t pointless. Today I made the realization that right now it seems as if I have been dropped into a game of The Sims. Complete with an elaborate house, a lake, and everyone speaking in what could very well be Simlish. As with my Sims, a lot of times I know what they want because of ... An Open Letter to My Mama in Heaven
Hey Mama, We are coming up on a year since you went away. Sometimes it feels like it’s been longer and sometimes it feels like you are still here with me. I am so happy for you. You were in pain for so long, especially at the end. I’m so glad you’re not in any pain anymore. Watching you slowly slip away was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. An Au Pair in Germany: April 15th and 16th, 2010
Thursday Life is ironic sometimes. Tomorrow we hold the funeral for S’s father and Monday we have a big birthday party for Clara. It is strange to me that humans can shift their emotions around so rapidly. Such is the beauty of this life. When we face a storm it is almost always followed by a rainbow. It has been a few weeks since S’s father died, but I know the family is still grieving. I can tell whenever Lukas points at the sky and says ‘Himmel’ (sky/heaven). ...
