April 10th This morning I got to sleep in until 9:15! After having my daily macchiato and cereal, S, the two older kids and I hopped in the car and drove into town. We had to go pick up the sailboat from storage. While there, S solicited me to three teenage boys who said they were going to a disco (club/party) tonight in another town. S told them if they wanted to they could come pick me up tonight. I appreciate his effort but I doubt they will be too keen on babysitting an ... April 9th Whilst here, I have greatly come to appreciate the ‘smile and nod’ method. Whenever Clara tries to explain something to me, or tell a story, I just smile and nod. Maybe I’ll even give her a ‘mhm!’ or shrug my shoulders. It seems to satisfy her most of the time, however I’ve learned that when I hear ‘Bitte’, she is asking me to help her with something. When I hear this I usually have to get a translation unless I can figure it out on my own. Today at the shoe store she asked me ... Read More about An Au Pair in Germany: April 9th, 2010
Phew! I'm exhausted. We just moved, which is why I haven't been able to post (like, at all). We only moved across town but we have SO MUCH STUFF (okay most of it is mine). My mom passed away last year and my dad is moving the the other side of the country so I've inherited most of their stuff...and they had a lot of it. *Preface* I spent a year in Germany as an Au Pair from 2010-2011 (I was 19-20 years old at the time). I tried my best to blog nightly but some days I was just too worn out! I always refer to my work there as 'The hardest job I've ever loved'. Twenty year old me will post those blog entries here from time to time, to share my story with those of you who may not have known me back in those days. Happy reading! (I will occasionally add tidbits in that I didn't originally write. These ... Read More about An Au Pair in Germany: A Series
I swear, if I wasn’t a stay at home mom with a rather strict budget, I would go WAY overboard buying baby clothes. Even with my current budget I can get a little out of control. It’s not just that they are so cute. Sometimes it’s the thrill of the chase. I seriously get an adrenaline rush from things like Once Upon a Child’s grab bag sale, Tot Trade, and similar events. The feeling you sometimes get when you’re driving through the parking lot of an amusement park and you see the roller coasters ... Read More about Ayana Nell, Baby Clothes Addict
