Our Beach Adventure with Tervis Tumblers
We have been going to the beach with our friends once or twice a year since Leopold was just under a year old and it’s such a fun mini vacation! Leopold’s best friend and her parents are nice enough to let us come stay with them in their condo and it’s always an adventure. Plus, taking a vacation is a lot of work with two toddlers. While I often wish we could stay longer, I think sometimes that three days is just long enough!
This trip came at a perfect time, too, because we just got a new set of my absolute FAVORITE cups.
Tervis makes the best cups EVER and I was absolutely thrilled for the chance to work with them. Let me brag on my cups for a minute or two and then I’ll talk a little bit about the beach.
I bought my first Tervis ever when I was about 17 years old.
I was on Spring Break with my best friend in Florida, and her grandparents used Tervis cups. We visited the Tervis store and I was overwhelmed by all of the cool cups and fun designs! I picked out a simple cup with a peace sign and flower and a matching pink lid, and we used them all week for sweet tea and smoothies.
It didn’t take long before I got my parents hooked, and some of my friends too. Each cup I have is connected to a certain place or person or memory, and I love them all! When my mom passed away I inherited her entire collection, so now my pantry is fully stocked.
These aren’t just ‘cups’ either. They are ‘tumblers’. The Tervis Tumblers come with a lifetime guarantee too! They are pretty much unbreakable as well. I was chatting with my friends in the parking lot one morning at school, and a wild gesture sent my cup full of coffee flying out of my hands. I was certainly devastated to have lost all of that coffee, but the cup was completely fine, save for the tiniest of scratches.
Speaking of coffee, these tumblers keep your hot drinks hot and your cold drinks cold, and your hands aren’t affected either way! They are double insulated so that even a cup full of ice water or hot coffee doesn’t ‘sweat’. I’ve made a cup of ice water and left it in my hot car, only to find ice cubes still left over when I come back. I’m constantly impressed by Tervis, even after 10 years of use.
So when I say you’re getting an honest review, you are REALLY getting an honest review. Tervis tumblers are one of my favorite products ever. I wish I could be like Oprah and give one to all of you to try!
I was extra excited to work with them because I was able to get a new water bottle which has been my latest favorite product, and I was able to get Leopold his very own cups! They have small cups that are perfect for tiny hands because they are wavy and easy to hold. He loves his Moana cup best but I also got him Dory and Minions and he loves those too!
That’s another great thing about Tervis…they really have something for everyone! Sports, hobbies, entertainment, careers, family members, special events, regional, you name it! You can even have a tumbler personalized. Definitely check out their site and I promise you will find something that you love on one of their cups.
Give us all Moana everything and we will be happy!! This Moana cup is definitely his favorite!
So now a little more about our fun weekend! Whenever we get invited, we love to go to our friends’ condo right on the water in Myrtle Beach, SC. It’s such a fun time and a great way to create traditions with our kids who have been buddies since birth. We usually hit the beach and the pool that Saturday, and the men go grocery shopping for our meals for the weekend.
This time we decided to go to Steak and Shake (James, Leopold and myself) as a special ‘anniversary dinner’ to celebrate three years of marriage. It was a bit busy and the service was terrible, but the food was pretty good and it was a decent price for all three of us! Isn’t year three’s element ‘grease’? 😉
This year we let the kids sleep in big kid beds in the same room and it wasn’t a complete disaster! The first night we got to the beach a little late, around 10:30. They probably didn’t fall asleep until 12:30am at the earliest but they DID go to sleep and in the same room! The second night the little girl ended up getting in bed with her parents in the middle of the night, and the third night she started the night in their bed. Leopold did sleep in his big bed the entire weekend though! We took his Dock A Tot, which is amazing for travel once they outgrow the pack and play, and he slept in that. He did end up taking naps in our bed, but only because that room has better curtains and it can get much darker.
Using our EzPz mini mats!
On Sunday we got up and had bacon and eggs for breakfast! James and I decided to take our yearly visit to Broadway at the Beach and we left early, around 9:30 or 10. Memorial Day Weekend in Myrtle Beach is also part of ‘Black Bike Week’ so not only are there long weekend travelers, there are bikers too! I thought going super early would work to our advantage and I was right! When we first got there it was almost empty, but all the stores were open. By the time we left around 12:30 it was getting a little busier, so I’m glad we did it that way.
Leopold did NOT want to go with us to Broadway. He wanted to stay with his friend and go to the beach! He kept saying “NO! I don’t WANNA go on an adventure!” We had to entice him with a Ben and Jerry’s milkshake and some time on the playground. And of course a new toy (James got one too).
Watching Moana while the grownups cleaned and packed up on our last day.
When we got back, they took a nap and then we grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner while the rain started. We were able to take one last drizzly walk on the beach, but it didn’t stop raining after that. Despite the tropical storm and rain, we still had a great time and had plenty of nice weather!!
Aww what an absolutely lovely seaside adventure!!!! I’m missing the beach so much now! 🙂 Thise tumblers are super adorable! They would definitely be a hit in our house!
We are all big fans around here!!! I hope you can get to the beach soon!
These sound like an investment I need to make, so I’m not shelling out money week after week on tumblers that easily or the children fighting over who wants which one. With it being personalized that will make so much easier and les headache for me.
So very true…and they last FOREVER. I love them so much!
Beautiful photos. it looks like you had an amazing time! Mini vacations are the best. I liked seeing Leopald having fun with his friend. Its so important (I think) to always have water around when you are out with children, those cups are very cute and practical!
Water play is easily the most entertaining thing for them at this age!! Thanks so much!
It sounds like you had a lovely time at the beach, your pictures are totally adorable. I love the look of the Tervis tumblers too they seem really hard wearing and the designs are cute too.
They are amazing tumblers! Thanks Elizabeth, it was a great trip!
I love love love my tervis tumbler! I got one many years ago for graduation with my school mascot on it! I am obsessed too ?
