*Sigh*
That’s just about how I would describe the past week.
We have been passing a cold around our house and it hit me last…naturally as a mom and wife I hardly have time to rest and get over it, so it’s dragged out for the last couple of days.
This past week sleep seems to be getting harder to come by. My belly is growing and I wake up every time I need to flop from side to side. Now with this head cold or sinuses or whatever it is, I’ve had to wake up from coughing or to take care of Leopold’s cough.
I’m tired, y’all!
Yesterday (Wednesday) I had my long awaited anatomy scan! I was really excited to be able to have my dad there for this appointment since he lives so far away. It’s nice to still get to share some special experiences with him when he’s here!
The appointment was early so luckily it didn’t take very long at all. Baby girl is still a girl (one of my fears after my blood test was it being wrong) and is very healthy! I do have an anterior placenta which frustrates me to no end, because it means I don’t get to feel those sweet little kicks and flutters for a few more weeks. I got the girl I wanted so I can’t complain too much.
Can’t have everything I guess!
In case you don’t know, an anterior placenta just means that while typically the placenta attaches to the back wall of the uterus, in my case it attached to the front. It’s not that uncommon and happens in just about half of all pregnancies. Maybe that’s what happens in a lot of ‘I didn’t know I was pregnant’ scenarios! It isn’t harmful to me or the baby, but just provides an extra layer of padding so that I can’t really feel her move like I did with Leopold. I’m kind of sad about it!
I got about four ultrasounds with Leopold for various reasons, but this time the girl got all the info she needed, gave me three poor quality photos, and scooted me out the door. I didn’t get my DVD like usual because I left mine at home and wasn’t given the option to purchase another one. We were hoping for a glimpse of her in 3D but the tech didn’t feel like doing that either. Basically I was spoiled last time and was a bit unhappy with the experience this time.
Oh well, I think I will just shell out the 50-100$ for an elective ultrasound at a clinic in 8-12 weeks.
We have really enjoyed having my husband home with us for this last month but to all of our great relief, he scored a really good job and starts on Monday! My dad is still in town and we are loving having him around while he works on his airplane (which takes up about 90% of every day).
How far along? 19 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I haven’t gained any since my last appointment 2 weeks ago. Hooray for no appetite!
Maternity clothes? Nothing new this week!
Stretch marks? Nothing new yet.
Sleep: Getting uncomfortable!
Best moment this week: Seeing baby girl at the anatomy scan and finding out that everything is looking good!
Have you told family and friends: Yep!
Name: We have a first name chosen…still working on that middle name! We have a few on the list but nothing has stuck yet. Not sure when I’ll announce it!
Movement: A tickle every couple of days. Dang anterior placenta!
Food cravings: Nothing really notable.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Having to flush Leopold’s poop when he goes in the little potty! LOL
Have you started to show yet: Yep!
Gender prediction: According to my Sneak Peek blood test at 12 weeks, it’s a girl! Just got that confirmed by ultrasound!
Belly Button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On! Just got them resized from last time so I hope it lasts for a while!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but some days my patience is very thin. Especially if I’m sick or have a headache.
Things I’ve gotten for baby so far: A LOT of clothes, a bunch of hand me downs back that we loaned out, a car seat from a friend, Some snuggly blankets from Saranoni, & a sweet double stroller from Kinderwagon! This week I added Lucy the Lamb from Cuddle and Kind to the pile, as well as some great bandana bibs from Little Kims New York. Oh, and a giant pink elephant!
On my wish list: Natursutten pacis, Slumberkins, a Dock A Tot, a moses basket, a gift card to Lowes for paint, a gift card to Ikea for shelves and closet storage, hangers, curtains, hair bows, and diapers and wipes!
Notable moments from this week:
We had breakfast with Grandpa and Uncle Baker at the airport and got to look at airplanes! Then we went to the playground with one of Leopold’s best friends, Nora!
Otter pants from Modern Rascals!
Leopold tried out Soccer Shots
And Dance!
We went to the playground after my ultrasound to enjoy the nice weather!
Outfit: Modern Rascals
Sunglasses: Whimsy Sunglasses

Good to keep track of your maternity progress. Congrats as a baby girl is on the way and I am sure more of pink stuff will be coming in! Final pictures with the boy are awesome picture, I see happy mom and excited brother.
Thanks so much! It helps me keep stuff on the blog too haha. Always new content!
Leopold is adorable and I bet he can’t wait to meet his little sister! I love your weekly pics and how lovely to have your dad there for your scan!
Thanks Emily!! He is excited…don’t know that he totally understands what he’s in for but he will be great as a big brother I’m sure!
What an amazing way to track you journey to mommyhood x’s 2. And I can just say this is an excellent way to help big brother bond with little sis by helping him feel so included.
Thanks so much Cia!! I am trying to make it an easy transition for him!
I’m glad all is going well with your pregnancy, you are looking gorgeous! Also huge congratulations to the hubby on his new job, that is amazing!
Thank you!! It’s a huge weight off our shoulders to have him working again, that’s for sure!!
Pictures are great. I wish you all happiness and that you quickly pass the time until birth. 🙂
Thank’s so very much!
It’s really good to know that everything is going fine with you and your pregnancy. Also thanks for educating me on what an anterior placenta is. Never actually knew about it. All the best on your journey. I enjoyed reading your post.
Happy to help 😉 It’s frustrating because it’s harder for me to ‘feel’ pregnant…at least the good parts of it! haha!
wow you are really coming along. It sucks the ultrasound tech was so quick to push you out and not give you the option for a dvd or even bother to take good pictures, that kind of sucks. I love all the cute progress pics though.
Thank you! Yeah my hormonal self probably over reacted but still!! At least she did her job I guess?
So cool that you are taking pics each week. I wish I had thought to do that. Too late now… she’s an adult (just turned 21 years old last month)! LOL! That ship has sailed! Enjoy your pregnancy!
LOL! It’s easier to remember with all of my friends doing the same thing, and my ‘apps’ reminding me how far along I am!
Wow I love reading progress post like this especially pregnancy ones. I am planning and I am just obsessed with the process and all that’s involved. Thanks for sharing your cravings, mood and weight etc… It’s good to know what to expect because their isn’t a book for this. God bless you and your family. And yeah it’s a girl ?
haha thank you!! There are plenty of books but no one book can really nail down everyone’s experience! Everybody goes through different things! It’s easiest for me to keep track of things this way because goodness knows I can’t make myself sit down and hand write it out!
I’m sorry you caught a cold, that’s so annoying. But all in all I think you are doing great! I remembered my pregnancies with your article.
I’m glad I could get you reminiscing! 🙂
You all must be so excited. Specially the little one he’s getting ready to be a big sibling.

I think he seems excited…just not completely sure what he has coming for him!! haha!
It’s amazing to witness the growth of your baby! I’m getting goosebumps just by looking at it. It will be amazing to see the results at the end of 9months! Stay healthy and happy!
Thanks so much Tiffany!! It’s exciting to document the progress for sure!
Aww Leopold is so adorable and I love all your pictures. Hope you feel better soon!! I hate cold
