Have you guessed yet that we LOVE books in this house?
I’ve always loved children’s books. There is just something magical about the simple themes and colorful illustrations. Finding new books to share with my son is something that never gets old!
This is one reason I was thrilled to partner up with Bookroo subscription boxes. I opted to get 3 months worth of books for our partnership and I’m so glad I did! We had so much fun getting ‘presents’ every month.
Leopold loved tearing into the individually wrapped board books he pulled out of the boxes. Reading should be fun and exciting for kids, and I think the way Bookroo presents it’s books builds anticipation and excitement!
We chose the board books because Leopold is still in the cross hairs between being able to handle paper back books and ‘paper’ pages appropriately and accidentally ripping them. I’ve always tried to teach him to respect books, so he has never really ripped them on purpose. Mostly because he knows better. We don’t step on books, we don’t bend or rip the pages (anyone else get super annoyed when people dog ear the pages of your books?), etc etc.
(yep, he’s on the potty in some of these…it’s my life now)
I grew up being a huge book nerd. I would get in trouble for reading too much in class, so I ended up taking a class called ‘Reading Power’ where I actually got to read the entire hour. Best class ever. That was the year I finished Gone With the Wind in no time flat.
Since I rarely have time anymore to find books I want to read, never mind actually getting to read them, I turn to children’s books. I love reading to my son and he seems to love it too! I’ve always had the desire to instill a deep love of reading in my children. I really hope that he is an early reader like I was. It’s a beautiful thing to see a small child lost in the pages of a book!
The books we received in our Bookroo boxes were always exciting and never books I’d seen before. Some were a little young for Leopold, but he loved them all the same. I’ll keep them in his room until his sister’s room is done and then we will put them in there for her.
The board book subscription comes with 3 books and the picture book subscription comes with two (another reason I chose the board books…I’m selfish).
So far, the book Leopold responded best to was ‘Animal Homes’ which was probably one of the simplest books we were sent! He wanted me to read it over and over again!
My favorites were ‘All the Awake Animals are Almost Asleep’ and ‘Landmarks’. I love any books that incorporate some learning! I have learned so much from some of Leopold’s books!
I’m pretty sad that our 3 months are up, it was such a fun subscription and they really made it extra special by wrapping each book individually.
If you would like to try Bookroo, use the code LEOPOLD for 10$ off your order!
Here’s a little more info that you can also find on their website:
Board Book package is geared for ages 0-3 and includes 3 books
Picture Book hard cover package is geared for ages 2-6 and includes 2 books
Chapter Book packages is geared for ages 7-10 and includes 2 books
There are different prices for different packages and you can buy them month to month, or for a few months at a time. There are pretty much options for any different need or budget. These would also make a great gift if you’re looking to give something that isn’t flashy and doesn’t include batteries. Or maybe the parents have said ‘no more toys…PLEASE!’ They mean it, I promise 😉
A Bookroo subscription would be a great alternative to a standard or typical gift for any child 10 and under!
The subscription sounds like a great idea. I actually love to read books to my nephew and niece when I get the chance. Sounds like a great gift for my sister. 🙂
I’m sure it would be much appreciated! And you could read those books to them when you go to see her! <3
This is a really neat concept. I can see it cultivating a child’s interest in reading, as the books are little gifts he gets each month!
Exactly! We love books and I feel like getting them as ‘presents’ has helped a lot!!
Awww your son is so adorable and he looked like he was enjoying those books! I’ll have to tell my Mommy friends to check out the company!
Thanks so much Ashley!!! He does love them!
Books are so important for toddlers, it is great that you have introduce so many colorful and interesting books for your kid. I am sure he will become a book worm very soon!
I’m hoping he gets into reading like I did! We are on the right track for sure!
I have got to check out and get my hands on this box. My little ones love to read and would love this.

The books are always new and exciting, too!
A subscription for books is such a great idea, nurturing reading in little ones is so important. This could also make a lovely baby shower gift or birthday present.
You’re right, it really would!! It’s always been a priority of mine to get him into reading at a young age!
So great that you’ve got Leopold reading so early! It will definitely benefit him so much in the future. And yes, I hate when people fold book pages – drives me insane!
Right?! Especially if I let you borrow one of my books. Don’t disrespect it! <3
Leopold looks so adorable and is obviously following you in your love of reading. I love the idea of a subscription – what a great thing to look forward to each month! My mum’s house is full to bursting with books and my own love of reading stems from there. My two kids (aged 6 and 10) get through so many books that we are constantly buying more! You can never have too many books!
I totally agree!! A house full of books sounds fantastic to me!
Reading books to your child is something all parents should do to bond with them and make them learn new things..the subscription idea sounds so practical…
It really is! You’re not getting a box of junk each month, you’re getting something worthwhile and educational!
That is such nice subscription box, I would love to check them out for my toddler boy and my little girl, they both love books. I am glad they have different packages based on the age.
They seem to have thought of everything!!
I have 2 under 2 right now and they both love the peek a boo in the jungle book. We have a lot of books by that author and there great! I love reading them and my kids enjoy the sounds I make lol, as well as the pictures and illustrations in the book.
Great review!
Thanks Tee! He definitely loves each one we got from them!!
Yes, I agree. Children books are definitely magical. I love to have them for my 4-year old daughter.
I can’t get enough!!
That subscription book box sounds like a great idea. i blog about books and I love that you have make your kids love them too.
I have always really loved books so it’s neat to pass that love down!! I love doing book reviews!
I’m so glad you are letting your adorable kid touching books instead of iPads. More and more kids are going to iPads, which I think is a very sad thing.
I agree!! We don’t spend very much time at all on ipads or phones. Only in desperate times when we go out to eat lol.
