We were gifted this Pipe tube building set recently, and it’s been nonstop fun!
Let me tell you a little bit about why I was excited to receive these tubes…
First of all, they are what I like to call ‘open ended’. Hopefully you will see a lot of reviews similar to this one because open ended toys are my absolute favorite. Open ended toys, for those who don’t know, serve more than just one purpose. They can be used ‘as intended’, but also in many other ways.
An open ended toy is something that doesn’t do the playing for you. It’s a toy that is open to interpretation and that encourages imagination.
There is probably an entirely separate blog post about why I don’t like battery operated toys, but I’ll save that goodness for another time.
These tubes come in their very own storage container, which is pretty exciting for me! I don’t have to dig around for another vessel to hold the newest toy that comes in a million pieces.
It comes with a little booklet full of ideas if you’re like me and have a hard time creating your own masterpiece!
I’ll admit that from the time I was told they were sending me this toy, it took a long time to arrive. It was sent on December 22nd and I received it on January 3rd. I’m sure that holiday mail made it arrive slower than normal but I had almost forgotten we were getting it! I’m Amazon Prime spoiled.
In this set, there are many different pieces. The coolest ones are the wheels, the whistles, and the trumpets. You can make a car that whistles! We have been trumpeting around our house all day. I’m sure the neighbors think someone is getting tortured because it sounds a little like a shrill scream.
Leopold has really enjoyed playing with this set, and I love it because it’s something he can assemble and create on his own. The pieces easily interlock and come apart so It’s rather simple to build whatever you can imagine.
