Last Spring I pulled together a list of Easter Basket Ideas that turned out rather well. With the holidays fast approaching I thought it might be a good idea to make a few new lists! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or just know someone with a December birthday, these lists are sure to help!
I’ve been searching for great gifts for the past few months. A few of these are also affiliate links or are products that were gifted to me to review at some time or another. Everything you see here represents gifts that I truly think a dad would love, and all opinions are my own! See my full disclaimer here.
Let’s be real, most dads are not easy to buy for. Adults in general can be tricky because for the most part, if they want something bad enough, they can buy it themselves. My husband is guilty of this for sure. He will say ‘oh I really want _____ game!’ and he will usually buy it before I have the chance to. I like to enforce the rule of ‘no buying things for yourself after mid October’.
I know my dad has always be a conundrum. He is the kind of guy who will say ‘I have all I need’ or ‘I’m lucky to have such great girls in my life, I don’t need a gift’. But that doesn’t mean I want to just NOT get him something. But then, all of his likes and hobbies are expensive!
This list may not be super long, but I hope it inspires those of you who are trying to buy for even the trickiest men.
This seems like a no brainer. Watches are a classic go to dad gift. My husband likes them, but rarely wears them. I reviewed JORD watches a few months ago and while it’s a beautiful watch and very well made, he just doesn’t remember to put it on. My dad, on the other hand, is rarely seen without a watch. So if the man in your life is a big watch wearer, check out the post I wrote about JORD watches, or find him one that will suit his style!
A personalized tie from 21 Rhinos
I know, I know, a tie is so overdone. Just like a watch. Hear me out, though…these ties from 21 Rhinos come in all sorts of trendy designs and they offer multiple sizes too. The cool thing about these is that they will personalize these ties however you want them to. You can put a special note, a photo, or sentimental quote on the backside of the tie so that dad can wear his heart on his tie!
A bag from Leatherfelt Goods
I’ve been following Leatherfelt Goods on Instagram for a while and their bags look SO nice. These bags would be great for travel, work, or just day to day. As far as ‘man bags’ go, these take the cake! Fill it up with his favorite candy or stick a gift card inside to make it even more special.
Daddy and Me matching hats from To: Little Arrows
I can’t deal with how cute these daddy and me hats are from To: Little Arrows! They have SR/JR hats, Legend/Legacy, and they even have some matching Legend/Legacy tees.
Tickets to see his favorite team play
Concert Tickets to see a band he loves
Beard Care Products
My husband has recently decided to grow out his beard and I’m over here like “FINALLY”! He looks so great with a beard and I’m excited to see it start to reach it’s potential. If your man is into his beard, consider grabbing some beard care products so he can keep it moisturized and hygienic! Grab a kit or product from Amazon via the links below, or check out the products from the Beard Care Club!
A map of his favorite spot from Mapiful
Mapiful offers beautiful prints of cities all over the world. You want it printed, you name it! These maps are minimal in black and white but look great and would be a special gift for a special guy.
His favorite drink and some accessories
Is your guy a whiskey drinker? Grab him a bottle of his favorite and a set of whiskey stones to go with it. Does he prefer wine? Get him a subscription to try a new wine every month! Maybe he is more of a beer drinker. You can get him a case of beer to go with a brand new set of engraved beer glasses.
A magnetic wristband
This would be a great stocking stuffer! It’s an easy way for dad to keep up with little bits and pieces when he is building, fixing, or tinkering!
If you’re super fast at sewing, you can finally get rid of all of those ratty t-shirts your hubby has been hoarding. He can treasure those memories even longer with a special t-shirt quilt!
‘NOT’ a diaper bag
Brat Pack Bags makes these awesome ‘satchels’ that fit just what you need and nothing more. These are perfect for men who don’t want to carry around a big diaper bag with ‘unnecessary’ stuff.
Poo-Pourri and a Squatty Potty
If your guy loves to linger in the bathroom and/or loves toilet humor, this would be a fun gift! Poo-pourri is awesome because it really does help eliminate the poop smell! A squatty potty helps to avoid future unfortunate colon problems by getting you in the best pooping position! Throw in a few rolls of toilet paper and maybe a magazine or two and this would be a hilariously unforgettable gift!
Gun, knife, hatchet, bow and arrow, etc…
Accessories for his favorite hobby
Does he golf? Get hims a bunch of golf balls and tees, or a funny golf club cover. Like fishing? Maybe pick him up a new pole or some fancy bait. Is he into hunting? Grab him a shiny new orange vest! (I’m sort of kidding…I don’t know enough about hunting to make any real guesses).
A pair of fun socks
Like these from Happy Socks!
Personalized desk calendar for the office
Make up a cute calendar full of photos of your kids, pets, and fun trips you took together recently. He will love to see those pictures throughout his day!
I usually get James a few food items for Christmas because he is a bottomless pit. Last year I think he got a few bags of chips and some dip because that’s one of his favorite snack foods. I like to get him fun things that we don’t typically buy so that they are at least a little bit special!
When all else fails, get a gift card! You could also get him a gift card or two for his stocking. Here are some ideas for gift cards:
Bass Pro shops
Dave and Busters
Starbucks (men like coffee too, basics!)
A liquor store
A cigar shop
Barnes and Noble
If you’re going to keep it simple and JUST get a gift card or two, make it a little more fun and personal by adding something to go along with the card. If you’re getting him a Best Buy gift card, tape it to a CD, etc.
