Newton Baby Breathable Crib Mattress Review
We are so excited about our new mattress from Newton Baby!
Getting a new mattress is always exciting and when this crib mattress arrived at our door it totally blew my expectations out of the water!
I wish I had one of these when Leopold was a newborn, it would have definitely eased some of my SIDS anxieties. This mattress is SUPER breathable since it’s filling is 90% air, 10% food grade polymer. The outer cover is mesh polyester so baby can breathe right through it. The outer cover zips off for easy washing (genius) and the entire thing is recyclable! I love that since you aren’t supposed to resell mattresses.
We have had our ups and downs as far as Leopold’s sleeping goes.
As an infant there were good nights and bad, but I wouldn’t call him a terrible sleeper by any means. He still wakes up at least once a night but usually goes right back to sleep after I go in and reassure him. I have friends who have one year olds that still wake up once every two hours or less. Sure, we have had nights like that but they were not regular by any means! I am so nervous that, should I have another baby, it will be a terrible sleeper. Pulling out all the stops for baby sleep is a MUST and getting the best mattress out there is one thing you can do to be sure you’re all getting restful nights of sleep. I’ve written some stuff about Leopold’s sleeping habits before, if you want to check them out you can do so here and here!
Having a washable mattress is insanely wonderful, no matter what age your tot is.
Babies spit up, poop-splode, and drool like crazy. Leopold’s current situation (a dual sided Walmart mattress) has a pretty unsightly yellow hue from the past two years of various baby fluids.
Our new Newton Baby mattress is very firm as a good crib mattress should be. While firm, it’s also very comfy. Right now we are using it in Leopold’s new teepee for a great reading spot. I’m considering stowing it away for baby #2 (baby #2 is still only an idea…I’m not pregnant). I definitely don’t want to reuse Leopold’s mattress for the next baby. I know I would feel confident using this new mattress with a little squish!
I’ll be honest, I totally pressed my face into this mattress and took a deep breath and was shocked at how truly breathable it was!
If you’re an expectant parent, or someone looking for the perfect gift for someone who is expecting, check out Newton Baby and see for yourself! They come in four different colors and two different sizes.
