Today I was a beast.
I pushed myself past my limits and did something I couldn’t imagine possible. Today I hiked up Mount Heimgarten, which is 3,618 feet high!
K dropped me off this morning at J’s house and we relaxed while the men did some work on the roof. For lunch we had a barbecue that was delicious! I found a new soda that I love. It’s called ‘Spezi’ and it’s got orange flavoring in it. After lunch me, J and her husband R set off on our adventure.
I have climbed a couple of mountains in the last few years, but none have had 3 feet of snow on the ground! J and R kept telling me ‘it will get flat soon!’ but it NEVER did. Trying to hike up a mountain is a tough job, but trying to hike up in the snow when you keep sliding back down is an even tougher job.
We were near the top when we looked back and saw a very angry looking storm cloud coming our way. We decided it would be best to turn back and brave the elements instead of being struck by lightning.
The journey down felt longer than the way up! I felt like a snow surfer, and that I might fall off the mountain at any moment. Then it started to rain on us and I had to take my glasses off which was probably even more dangerous.
It was really difficult and the weather was a huge jerk to us, but at the same time it was amazing and a great adventure. My muscles are already killing me!
Last night was rough. I had to take Advil to get to sleep. I thought the pain would disappear when I lay down and closed my eyes, but I was so wrong. In fact, I felt like I could very nearly vomit.
I went to bed at 10 and tossed until about 11:30, when I took the medicine. After that it took me about 5 minutes to fall asleep. Of course I had to wake up at 7 this morning but I didn’t feel as bad as I’d expected. My whole body just feels like a bruise.
Today I got to drive for the first time in Germany! S and I took the BMW to the kindergarten to pick up Clara. She got a kick out of the fact that I was driving too.
