Happy Birthday Clara!
Today Clara turned 4 years old. We woke up around 8:30 and went downstairs with the family where we were told to wait in the foyer so Kerstin could get stuff ready in the kitchen.
Clara was overflowing with excitement, and Lukas was peeved that he had been left behind on the stairs. He has been screaming so much that his voice kept breaking. I would say ‘poor baby’ but he kind of brought it on himself.
When we went into the kitchen it was like a watered down version of Christmas morning! Music was playing, candles were lit, and on the table lay presents both wrapped and unwrapped, a strawberry birthday cake, and a beaded felt crown for the birthday princess.
Her big gifts were a small wheelbarrow and a horse tricycle that looked as if it came straight out of the 1930’s.
Around 11 some family came over and we had an amazing brunch made up of fruit salad, weisswurst, bread of all kinds, cake, macchiatos, scrambled eggs, meat, and cheese. It was AMAZING to say the least.
It was the first day I felt a little awkward being there, as it was mostly family and they were all speaking German (of course). Someone would say something hilarious and everyone would explode with laughter. Meanwhile I sat there like a fool smiling awkwardly but not laughing because that would have looked even more stupid.
After everyone left the kids had nap time, during which I went for a run. Germany is probably the best place you can go for a run. It started to rain and the wind blew like mad.I did pretty well considering I haven’t run since December! When I got back to the house I rested for a while until the kids got up around 5:30. Then we all lounged around downstairs, ate dinner and went to bed.
