I swear, if I wasn’t a stay at home mom with a rather strict budget, I would go WAY overboard buying baby clothes. Even with my current budget I can get a little out of control. It’s not just that they are so cute. Sometimes it’s the thrill of the chase. I seriously get an adrenaline rush from things like Once Upon a Child’s grab bag sale, Tot Trade, and similar events. The feeling you sometimes get when you’re driving through the parking lot of an amusement park and you see the roller coasters cars plummeting to earth…knowing you’re about to be on those rides…the butterflies in your stomach…that’s how I feel approaching a big baby sale. This is what my life amounts to right now. Excitement over second hand baby clothes.
My son has WAY more clothes than he needs. He has so many that if he spills even a small amount of anything on one shirt, we just toss it in the dirty clothes and grab another. That way he can wear them all more than just once or twice! My dream is to eventually have enough cash to be able to buy my next baby (not pregnant) cute little outfits from work at home moms. I want to have a much smaller baby wardrobe next time with a handful of REALLY cute things. Not ten handfuls of so-so play clothes. Poor first child.
What are some of your favorite small businesses to buy kids clothes from? I would love to gravitate from bright multicolored items to serene neutrals without having to spend a fortune on each piece! I’m a sucker for H&M items but right now it’s ranging from 55-75 degrees in January around here and I really don’t think we will need a lot of winter clothes for the rest of the season. I’m just going to save up and buy him some really cute, quality summer items when they roll around in stores!
